Job Description

Job Summary The Shipping and Receiving employee plays a critical role in supporting the Parts Department of a large Toyota dealership. This position is responsible for managing all incoming and outgoing parts shipments, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring that parts are properly handled, stored, and distributed to internal departments and external customers. Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming parts deliveries for accuracy, quantity, and condition.
  • Unpack, label, and stock parts in the appropriate warehouse locations according to Toyota and dealership standards.
  • Prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring accurate documentation, packaging, and timely dispatch through designated carriers.
  • Maintain and update inventory records in the dealership management system (DMS) or parts software.
  • Work closely with the Parts Counter and Service Departments to ensure parts are promptly delivered to technicians or customer orders.
  • Handle returns, warranty parts, and core returns in compliance with Toyota policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with full physical inventory audits.
  • Keep the shipping and receiving area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and effectively.
  • Communicate with parts vendors, drivers, and dealership staff to resolve discrepancies or delivery issues.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent (some college or technical training preferred).
  • Previous experience in automotive parts, warehouse operations, or shipping and receiving (dealership experience a plus).
  • Familiarity with dealership management systems (e.g., CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to use barcode scanners or inventory software.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • The physical requirements of the position are MEDIUM to HEAVY in intensity.
  • Must be able to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.
  • Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision comparable necessary to drive vehicles safely.
  • Constant – Reaching, sitting, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing.
  • Frequent – Repetitive motion.
  • Occasional – Balancing, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to ~100 lbs.
Physical Working Conditions * This position is subject to inside and outside environmental working conditions including but not limited to temperature changes, outside weather conditions, slightly elevated ambient noise levels, minor potential physical hazards as electrical, mechanical, and cleaning equipment, and minor atmospheric conditions affecting skin or respiratory systems such as fumes, odors and dusts associated with operation an auto dealership.
