Position:  Security Supervisor 

Type:  Full-Time 

Location: North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Campus – Durham, NC 

Travel: 0% 

**Contingent Upon Award**  

Position Summary : The Security Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily activities of unarmed security officers assigned to NCCU residence halls. The Supervisor ensures coverage of all posts, monitors performance and conduct, maintains incident records, and serves as the primary liaison with the NCCU Police Department and Residential Life staff. 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Supervise daily operations of unarmed security officers assigned to residence halls

• Ensure coverage of all designated buildings during assigned hours and coordinate backup coverage when needed

• Conduct periodic patrol checks and review guard activity logs and incident reports

• Liaise with NCCU Residential Life and Campus Police to ensure timely incident response 

• Submit daily activity summaries and monthly reports to the Contract Manager

• Assist in training new security officers on campus protocols and emergency procedures

• Ensure all guards comply with uniform and appearance standards 

• Participate in monthly performance review meetings with NCCU and 7D leadership 

Required Skills and Abilities:  

• U.S. Citizenship/Residency required 

• Must pass a criminal background check 

• Must be a licensed security professional in accordance with the North Carolina Private Protective Services Board (PPSB) requirements

• Must maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications

• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in security or law enforcement settings. 

• Demonstrated experience in staff coordination, incident reporting, and client communication

• Experience in campus security or residential environments preferred 

• Trained in campus emergency protocols, de-escalation, and report writing 

Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
