About Wise Pelican

Wise Pelican is hiring a dedicated Print Production Specialist who will be responsible for operating and maintaining various printing and finishing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials. This role involves tasks like setting up machines, troubleshooting issues, ensuring quality control, and preparing finished products for distribution. This position is a part-time position located in Tempe, Arizona. 

What Will You Do? 

  • Operating Equipment:
    Use and maintain a variety of printing and finishing equipment, including digital printers, cutters, folders, binding machines, and more. 
  • Job Setup:
    Setting up machines according to job specifications, including selecting appropriate paper stock, adjusting settings, and ensuring proper alignment. 
  • Quality Control:
    Monitoring the printing and finishing process, inspecting materials for defects, and making adjustments to maintain quality standards. 
  • Troubleshooting:
    Identifying and resolving issues with equipment or processes to minimize downtime and maintain productivity. 
  • Material Handling:
    Loading and unloading materials, managing inventory, and preparing finished products for shipping or distribution. 
  • Documentation:
    Recording production data, tracking inventory, and completing necessary paperwork. 
  • Maintenance:
    Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, and coordinating with service providers for more complex issues. 
  • Collaboration:
    Working with other team members, including designers, production staff, and supervisors, to ensure efficient workflow and quality output. 
  • Following Procedures:
    Adhering to safety procedures, security protocols, and quality control standards.

  • ‘Floating' in an interesting environment, with various production opportunities - nobody wants to get stuck doing the same thing all the time!

Once you get your footing…

  • Open and/or Closing of Print Shop
  • Work independently, on a flexible schedule

Who Are You?

  • Technical Skills: Basic computer skills. Learned proficiency in operating printing and finishing equipment, with experience in using different types of machinery preferred, but we will train motivated individuals who are eager to learn new skills. 
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy and quality in all aspects of the job.
  • Organizational Skills: Managing multiple tasks, prioritizing work, and meeting deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicating with team members and supervisors.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials, and operate machinery in a fast paced environment.
