Job Summary:

Eastern Washington University’s School of Psychology invites applications for a full-time, academic year Lecturer position, specialization open, to begin January 02, 2026 . This lecturer position is a full-time, one-year appointment, and eligible for renewal for successive annual appointments. This position requires candidates to be located in or willing to relocate to the greater Spokane-Cheney area and to teach courses on the Cheney, Washington campus.

Responsibilities

• Effectively teaching a variety of undergraduate and (possibly) graduate courses to fulfill the needs of the Programs and School. Final courses will be determined in consultation with the Chair. Courses will be specific to expertise and support offerings in the School. Courses at the undergraduate level may include Introductory Psychology, Great Works in Psychology, Scientific Principles of Psychology, Lifespan Development, Research Method, Senior Capstone, and others. Additional teaching responsibilities may include student advising, practicum/internship supervision, and/or research supervision.
• Collecting, retaining, and disseminating course and program data for accrediting bodies and to maintain professional standards.
• Collaborating with colleagues in utilization of creativity and best practice knowledge in curriculum development, classroom instruction, and student supervision.
• Attending and participating in weekly School meetings; School, College, and University meetings, retreats, recruitment and retention events, and graduation ceremonies, and program specific collaboration teams meetings as well as collaborating with colleagues to fulfill the missions of the School of Psychology

The typical teaching load is 45 credits per year, spread over three quarters. The candidate is expected to participate in program specific work groups related to their expertise and should be an active member in the School. Opportunities for summer teaching, although not required, may be available.

Required Qualifications:

• MA or MS or EdSin Psychology or equivalent degree
• Ability to teach a variety of courses in psychology and specific to specialty areas, as demonstrated by coursework, prior teaching experience, research, and/or publications/presentations
• Mastery of basic computer skills including word processing, database, email, and other forms of instruction technology
• A high degree of interest in cultural awareness and experiential and community- based education
• Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D. or ABD in an area of Psychology or a related field is preferred
• Experience teaching university or college graduate level Psychology courses
• Demonstrated ability to teach in online and hybrid formats using synchronous and asynchronous components
• Commitment to quality teaching and student development
• Demonstrated ability to advise students and to supervise practicum/internship, applied experiences, and/or research

Conditions of Employment:

The required start date for this position is 01/02/2026. To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 01/02/2026 .

Position is based on the Cheney campus, and includes in-classroom teaching as part of its position responsibilities. As a result, this position will not be filled with a candidate who seeks an on-line only, remote teaching position.

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment. A valid driver’s license is also required.
