Job Description

The Cath Lab Technician is a specialized healthcare professional who assists physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient care in high-pressure environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist cardiologists during procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment.
  • Operate and troubleshoot specialized cath lab equipment (e.g., imaging systems, monitors).
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural data.
  • Administer contrast media and medications under physician supervision.
  • Prepare pateints for procedures (e.g., cleaning, shaving, anesthetizing insertion sites).
  • Provide post-procedure care and patient education.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Cardiovascular Technolgy or related field.
  • Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a catheterization lab or similar clinical setting.
  • Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems and medical instrumentation.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for handling instruments.
  • May require lifting or transferring patients.
  • Use of protective gear due to exposure to radiation and bodily fluids.
